The plan was for us to spend a long weekend in neighboring Germany and come back today. We did go to Germany on Saturday, but decided to come back earlier (less than 24 hours stay) to avoid any quarantine requirements as NL is back to being a Code Red Covid risk area due to the sudden rise in cases.
It was still a great trip, albeit short. Just the feel of being in a different, slightly unfamilar place, after a year of staying put in Holland, was invigorating. Being a tourist is really a happiness pill, it just makes you feel more alive!
So in Germany, we walked around the city of Kleve, ate currywurst and Krakauer, sat in a bench at a big park and people-watched, and browsed through shops. Hubby and I pretty much fulfilled our tiny shopping goals.
He bought a Batman toy from a hobby shop and I did my grocery shopping in one of the bigger Edeka supermarkets. Oh yeah, I love Supermarket shopping! Every time we travel, it is one of my joys visit groceries and look out for nice goodies to buy. Since we had a car with us, there was no restrictions to what we could buy haha. We bought:
*Sausages
*Curry Sauce for the sausages
*Fruit Juices ( way cheaper in Germany than in NL)
*Mello Mix Zero - one of my favorite softdrinks
*Haribo Melon Slices --- delicious!
*Butter Keyk cookies
*Chips
It was a short sweet break from normal.
