The air in my street has turned heavier on my return. It is everywhere, in the streets strewn with the fallen parts of trees, in the mornings that have turned darker, more mournful for the sun.
I take them all in with some novelty, having come back from the sunshine, heat at utter chaos that is my homeland, the Philippines. While I enjoyed the brief two week break, coming back I was happy for the peace of my solitary life in Europe. I can finally read my books and think in silence. And it is autumn, which brings with its brazen beauty a sense, for me at least, of reawakening.
I cannot wait to be alone, eating soup, writing. I cannot, though I am still scared, I cannot wait to prove myself brave.
